Quad milling is a classic french method where in instead of simply creating a soap base and mixing it with additives like butters, scents, colors, etc., the soap base is passed through milling processes 4 times which reduces water quantity or moisture, air bubbles and air, creates a creamy consistent texture since the rollers have refined the texture and have mixed the soap base and the ingredients into a more consistent and even soap. This has allowed smoothness and homogenised all the additives like the fragrances, butters, oils and color into the soap bar. This has created evenly sized particles, increased the hardness and the smoothness. At times, soap makers stop at this juncture, however, this already smooth soap based is passed through the mesh or the rollers, perforated plates, etc. with even finer openings to ensure it has become absolutely homogenised. This soap paste is the passed through the plodder to create a log and then the log is cut and embossed with a brand name.
After the quad milling process, the soap differs from other soaps in hardness, smoothness and evenness of all the additives having spread to every inch of the soap. Plus such quad milled soaps are processed so well that they do not retain moisture or start becoming goopy, instead they retain their qualities and last long for many more uses than the normal soap. When ingredients like shea butter, other butters and oils are used in these soaps, these give rich lather and moisturising feel thereby making them feel ultra luxurious. If nature inspired scents have been combined to give the uplifting natural aroma, you can be assured you will enjoy it till the last bit of the soap.
Why quad milled soaps can sound expensive but might prove cost-justified in the long run?
Firstly, experiencing luxury against a normal soap in incomparable. Quad-milled soaps remove impurities, coarseness and uneven distribution of additives simply because these have not been homogenised thoroughly. However, when a soap based is send through different types of milling processes with smaller exits each times with processes with rollers and filtering with mesh or perforated plates, all particles are broken down to mix finely in each process, the result is smoother and more even product that everyone will enjoy. These soaps are finer, stronger, harder and smoother, which no normal soap can match. It is safe to say therefore, that these will last longer even for double the duration than the normal soap. Plus, it will give all the benefits of skin care, luxurious bath and beautiful scent for longer. This is not possible in a regular soap. Quad milled soap are luxurious because of the rich lather, richer scents, but these are not essentially extremely expensive when you compare with their usage against normal soaps. Hence, you may feel these to be heavier on the pocket, but these might be so.
There are many soap makers use quad milling technique to bring to their customer base ultimate luxury in bathing, some use ultra expensive ingredients, whereas others use normal ingredients in a better process making these soaps irresistible.
